I wanted to see if I could improve the shape to position the image in and I ended up finding the one below. This shape was much more interesting than the previous one because it suits the genre well and is also a perfect square meaning it fits well on the digipak dimensions.
This an example of a possible panel on my digipak and I think this is a good theme that is very professional looking. The clipping mask works very well with the paint splats and textured background and I have now started to think about possible image manipulations. In this example, I have kept the colour in the eye but made the rest of the image black and white which works well due to the colour of the textured background. This effect will feature on my final product because this will also work well with the colours of my actor's clothing as he is wearing a red and blue Adidas jacket. The effect is also easy to replicate and is one that will enhance the value of the digipak.
