After getting feedback that my last two ideas were not that good and that I could do something better, I have now developed a new theme that I believe is by far the best out of my three ideas. Due to Britpop being a key part of my artist, I thought that it was important to refer to this in my digipak. Consequently, I have introduced red splatters and a textured blue background as these two colours are key features of the genre, hence allowing the audience to understand the genre of the music. Below are two initial ideas that clearly demonstrate the effect I am trying to create.
The two images above were fairly simple to create. To do this I firstly looked for a textured background and altered to the colour of it to cyan blue in photoshop using the selective colour tool. Next, I looked for a png file of a paint splatter, which there was many to choose from. Once inserted and positioned, I duplicated the layer and moved it to another angle which created a more obvious effect that surrounded the whole image. Finally, I used the clipping mask tool to position the image in the shape that I created using an edgy brush tool which ended up creating quite a nice effect. This was positioned over the red splatters to make it clearly stand out.
