What I have learnt:
This task has taught me the importance of branding and synergy for music artists. As a musician, you hold the aim of making lots of people listen to your music and a strong brand can be an effective way to encourage this. One element of branding that I have noticed can put you above the rest of the competition is mode of address. This is because public appearances on chat shows and radio stations help you become noticeable and provide you with the foundations to put yourself out there. Public communications however, are not critical for already well known artists even though they will be high in demand because people already know enough about them, like Adele. This means that rising stars will thrive off this form of branding as the audience will be able to identify what kind of person they are and find out more information to engage them. Additionally, a logo is a key element that needs to feature during the artists brand. This is because it encourages people to remember the artist and it can be used on album covers etc to instantly inform the audience who it is by. A logo is also important because it can hint at genre and personality of the artist hence engaging the audience. In recent years, the role of branding on social media platforms has become increasingly important as mostly all mobile phone users use these sites. Here, content can be shared, liked and absorbed creating artists with a perfect structure to construct posts in synergy with their brand. All these elements have made me realise that a lot of time and effort is put into branding as it could make or break an artists career.
