Task 3: Analysis of Digipaks

Powered by emaze
What I have learnt:
By creating this presentation and looking at the key codes and conventions of a digipak through current examples, I have understood how digipaks benefit artist and how the images/colour of them represents the artists genre or has another connection. For example, rock or alternative bands feature significant amount of black on their digipaks contrasting to the evident use of white and brighter colours for pop. If my digipak will be a success this fundamental element will need to be looked at and thought carefully about. Another key convention that I identified was how similar the themes of the front and back covers are. This helps present a clear message to the audience as it would seem strange to have a colourful front cover and a dull back and may give the audience the wrong impression. Overall, this task has allowed me to think thoroughly about the kinds of things I want to feature on my product  and has shown me how important a role a digipak has on an artists success.

Digipak Conventions:

  • Front cover (Artist image or pattern)
  • Back cover (Similar theme to front but with back cover conventions)
  • Fold-out design
  • Songs listed
  • Consistent colour theme
